Epilepsy, Heart Attacks and Mental Disorders–Now Available in Your Drinking Water?!
If that headline sounds unusual, it’s nowhere near as unusual as what’s floating around in your drinking water. Every day, millions of pharmaceutical drugs that have expired or gone unused make their way into your drinking water. Even veterinary drugs have been known to crop up in the water you drink, as a result of runoff from farms and fields.
While you may have heard that remnants of over-the-counter drugs have commonly been found in water, what you may not know is that drugs to treat more serious conditions, such as epilepsy, heart conditions, mental disorders and chronic pain, have also trickled into the water supply.
The bad news is, little to nothing is being done to prevent or remedy this. Water treatment facilities and pharmaceutical corporations are hoping that if they don’t make a big deal out of it, you won’t either.
Until recently, many water treatment plants were unaware that such a problem even existed, so their current systems don’t even bother to test for, or filter out, impurities in the water from leftover prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs.
Even though they’ve now been made aware of it and the potential problems caused by impurities and toxic substances in water–thanks to numerous studies, they still don’t have the proper budgets to create plans to remedy the situation.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, precious little testing has been done to determine the side effects of long-term ingestion of water that has been contaminated by residual amounts of pharmaceutical drugs. So even if you aren’t feeling any ill effects now, that doesn’t mean the long-term situation will be the same.
Scared? You should be. There is still no required test available to find pharmaceutical drugs in your drinking supply. With this in mind, it’s now up to us to protect the water we consume from the unknown effects of serious prescriptions, over the counter drugs and animal medicines.
The best way to protect yourself and your family is to invest in the proper water filtration for your home. A whole-house filtration system will ensure consistently clean and filtered drinking water (removing any of the leftover residue from the medicines), as will a faucet filter.
The best water filtration systems put an extra layer between the medicines that seep through the water while removing other elements like chlorine, lead and bacteria that water treatment plants don’t catch. The final verdict? It’s better safe now than sorry later!

Learn How Your Children Could Suffer Lifetime Illnesses from Something as Simple as Drinking Water…
Every parent or guardian wants the best for their children. We work hard to make sure they eat the right foods, get lots of exercise and enjoy plenty of fresh air.
But despite all our best efforts, we could be undoing all of it, all because of something as simple and innocent as the water they drink and bathe in.
But drinking water is safe, right? That’s what many parents believe. You probably think nothing of it if your child grabs a quick glass of tap water after practicing sports, or takes a shower every morning before school. Everyone needs and uses water; it’s a fact of life.
What no one is telling you is that inside every drop of water is a hotbed of bacteria, hard metals and other contaminants. Let’s look at a few of them and the dangers they can present to your children:
- Lead: Lead is a heavy metal, most often found in tap water. Even if you think the water itself is free from lead, the EPA estimates that up to 98 percent of homes contain lead plumbing that leeches into the water itself.
Lead contamination in the water is just as dangerous as a child accidentally eating lead paint chips! And we all know the dangers of lead paint. Behavioral disorders like ADD and ADHD, learning disabilities and depression are just a few of the side effects of drinking water contaminated with lead.
- Chemicals and Pesticides: Runoff from factories and farms can seep into the water table and leak into your home’s water supply. While much of the toxic residue is removed by modern water treatment plants, children are still incredibly susceptible to the amounts that filter through.
Pesticides and chemical leakage into the water has been known to affect a child’s internal organ development and compromise their immune system. If your child seems to catch an abnormal number of colds and infections, it’s worth taking the extra steps to filter the water he drinks and bathes in.
- Chlorine: Yes, chlorine. This is the disinfectant added to all municipal water supplies. Whenever your child takes a shower, the chlorine in the water seeps into the steam and becomes airborne. Prolonged chlorine exposure over their lifetime can lead to chronic illnesses such as asthma and other breathing problems.
We all want to protect our children and give them the best possible start in life. To help prevent them from ingesting or breathing in dangerous chemicals and pollutants from the water, consider installing both a shower filter and drinking water filter in your home. Whole-house water filters are also available to filter contaminants from any water that enters your home.

Asthma is one of the most rampant and chronic childhood conditions affecting our kids today. There is perhaps nothing more painful to watch than your child gasping and heaving for air that simply doesn’t nourish his or her lungs the way it should.
Millions of children across the country battle asthma every day, in cases ranging from mild to severe. Asthma-related deaths are on the rise, and more and more cases of the debilitating condition are found every day.
Even if your child doesn’t display signs or symptoms of asthma now, that doesn’t mean he or she won’t be affected by it later in life. Some children don’t show any symptoms until puberty, and then, it’s too late.
Since no one knows what directly causes asthma, there is no “cure”. However you can help increase your child’s odds of not suffering with this chronic disease, just by making a few simple changes in the water he or she drinks and showers with!
You wouldn’t think something as simple as water would have such a profound effect on a child’s breathing. But the chlorine in the water–the disinfectant placed there by water treatment plants to destroy bacteria–can also decrease your child’s lung function.
When your child showers or bathes in unfiltered water, the chlorine in the water becomes steam, which your child will naturally breathe in. While this isn’t as toxic as breathing something as deadly as chlorine gas, the effects will build up over time, and your child will find it harder and harder to breathe, especially during strenuous activity like playing sports at school or working out in gym class.
Higher incidents of asthma were first reported in people who had indoor pools because of the amount of chlorine they were breathing in while swimming. But now, even everyday water from showering, washing dishes, and even flushing the toilet can release chlorine into the air.
The solution? Consider installing a whole-house water filtration system in your home to filter out the chlorine from the water you use every day. A whole house filtration system protects every area of the home where water is used, from toilets to dishwashers to the water you drink.
At the very least, install a shower water filtration system. Since your child showers or bathes every day, this is a direct way that he or she breathes in harmful chlorine, which can damage their developing lungs. Don’t let your home become an asthma trigger!
Filtered water with the chlorine removed can help prevent your child from developing asthma if he or she does not already have it. It may also reduce symptoms in children with mild-to-moderate asthma. Removing the chlorine can even help reduce the severity of an attack.

Whenever people think about weight loss, they tend to think of fad diets, unforgiving, brutal workouts or costly gym memberships. But did you know that one little-known secret to losing weight safely and permanently is in the water you drink?
It’s true. Water has no calories, and it’s a filling, satisfying way to reach and maintain your ideal weight. So how do you make water a winning part of your overall weight loss plan? Here’s how:
Many people have trouble with portion control. It’s too easy to get carried away with all the tempting goodies out there. What’s worse, by the time you’re physically “full”, it still takes another 20 minutes or so for your stomach to tell your brain “enough already!” So whatever you eat in that extra 20 minutes or so is going straight to your hips, thighs or stomach as fat!
Drinking water throughout your meal (even if you aren’t thirsty) will help you feel full faster. By the time your stomach tells your brain it’s had enough, you’ll have eaten less food overall, which means you’ll have consumed less calories in the same period of time.
Drink lots of water throughout the day. You may not physically feel “thirsty”, but your body loses a considerable amount of fluid throughout the day. When you’re thirsty, your body is actually signaling to your brain that it’s starting to become dehydrated!
Our bodies have been programmed since the early evolutionary days to stock up water, just in case there were times we had to go without. This “water famine” makes your body store up all the extra water inside the cells, leading to water weight gain. Water weight gain can lead to feeling bloated and sluggish.
If you drink water routinely throughout the day, your body realizes that there is no famine, and it doesn’t retain as much of that water (weight) as a result. Plus, water helps “flush out” your system and make you feel more energetic. Who knew that something as simple as drinking water could do all that?
It’s important to note that unfiltered drinking water, and even bottled water can do more harm than good. On one hand, you want to filter out the chemicals, chlorine and toxins that have built up in your drinking water supply. On the other hand, you want to retain the natural trace minerals that make water so tasty and refreshing.
To get the best of both worlds, consider using a water filtration system. This helps ensure that you always have a steady supply of cool, refreshing water on hand to help you drop a few pounds while feeling remarkably healthier and more energetic.
The secret is all in your water. And it sure beats expensive weight loss pills and supplements too!

Nearly all municipal water systems have traces of lead in their water, and it’s nothing new or groundbreaking. Most people take steps to avoid lead paint in their homes or are alarmed to hear about the recall of a toy containing lead, but very few people understand that lead in their drinking water can be just as toxic, especially to young children.
How Lead Sneaks Into Your Water
Your local water treatment plant may release an announcement to the press about commendable actions they’re taking to reduce lead in your water supply. However, most of the lead that ends up in drinking water doesn’t come from the water in the treatment plant. It comes from the lead pipes and plumbing leading to your home.
Even though lead pipes and lead plumbing are no longer made because of this very real danger, brass fixtures can contain lead, and copper pipes often contain lead soldering from when they were welded together. As water passes through these pipes, lead leeches off into the tap and into the water. The end result is that the water you drink actually has a higher concentration of lead in it than what your local treatment plant is reporting.
How Much Lead is Safe to Drink?
The answer is none! No amount of lead in drinking water is “safe” any more than the chlorine, herbicides, pesticides and other contaminants in the water are safe. The fact is each of these pollutants can cause severe health problems, which are extremely dangerous in the very young and very elderly.
Common “side effects” of ingesting lead in tap water include headaches, behavior and learning problems, neurological problems, mental retardation, pregnancy complications, memory loss and brain damage. That’s why it’s crucial that you take action now to prevent further lead exposure in your home water supply.
How Do I Remove the Lead from My Drinking Water?
Lead particles can be filtered from your drinking water by installing a drinking water filter on your home faucets. By fitting snugly over the tap, the filter removes lead, herbicides and pesticides from your drinking water. It also removes chlorine effortlessly, so all you taste is pure, refreshing water. Premium water filters also leave in trace minerals that are essential for optimum health while stripping out toxins, making healthy water one small but significant thing you can do to give your family the very best.

Dangerous, even deadly bacteria, such as E. coli and fecal bacteria, could be lounging around happily in your bottled water, according to a new report released by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). While there are government standards for city (tap) water, which explicitly require that there be no confirmed E. coli or fecal bacteria present, small amounts of bacteria are permitted in bottled water.
If that doesn’t make you feel ill at ease, other ground-breaking reports revealed that bottled water companies do not have to check for intestinal pathogens that can contaminate ground water, such as cryptosporidium and giardia, These pathogens can cause diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting.
Tap water must meet certain standards for minimizing cancer-causing chemicals in the water, including phthalate, a toxic chemical that can leach from plastic bottles into drinking water. Bottled water companies do not have to conform to this regulation.
Does that mean your bottled water is brimming with bacteria and cancer-causing chemicals? It might look pure and pristine, but the bottled water companies’ “don’t ask, don’t tell” policies get them out of normal water regulations, a fact that is very troubling.
Of course, tap water isn’t much better. Even with strict government regulations, the sheer amounts of chlorine, lead and other pollutants in the water (and a lack of solid, reputable testing to hold them to acceptable standards) make tap water even less safe to drink than bottled water!
So How Do You Get Pure, Clean Drinking Water?
The fact is, you’re paying up to $4 a gallon or more for “purified” drinking water when you’re not even entirely certain where it comes from! And with no standards for cleanliness or purity, bottled water companies have free rein to put anything they want (or more specifically, stuff you don’t want!) in their water.
And before you run out and buy bottled water that’s marketed as “distilled” or processed using “reverse osmosis” (those sound cleaner, don’t they?), you need to be aware of some very critical points that these companies aren’t willing to admit.
Distilled Water Strips Your Body of Natural Minerals It Needs to Thrive!
Distilled water was first developed for the photography and printing industry over 40 years ago because it required mineral-free water for processing. Since then, distilled water has been marketed as “state of the art,” even though it may rob your body of vital nutrients you need to feel and look your best.
Even the purest, most crystal-clear water in nature has some amounts of trace minerals in it, like calcium and magnesium. Our bodies need these minerals as much as they need water itself.
Reverse Osmosis–Fancy Name, Expensive Water and a Major Lack of Results
Some water claims to be filtered using reverse osmosis, which sounds like a state-of-the-art water filtration system. However, the reverse osmosis filtration system was developed at the same time as distilled water and does not remove synthetic chemicals (like pesticides) from the water. What you’re left to drink is substantially less healthy than the advertisers claim. Reverse osmosis filtering also strips out the natural minerals that give drinking water its refreshing taste.
The Water Pitcher Filter–Great Convenience, Terrible Cost
Water pitcher filters have been advertised for decades as a great way to get “responsible drinking water” from your tap. The pitcher seems relatively inexpensive–until you need a new filter. These companies operate on the same principle as Polaroids and printers. Sell the camera (or printer) cheap and charge more for the film (or cartridges). Water pitcher “filters” are extremely costly and can put decent water filtration out of the budgets of most families.
So How Can You Get Clean, Pure Water at Home?
Fortunately, there are alternatives out there for safer, cleaner drinking water…water that doesn’t burden the environment with a huge glut of plastic bottles or require time-consuming amounts of effort or huge expense.
A multi-stage filtration system using activated carbon (which fits neatly on the countertop or under the sink) is the ideal way to filter water without the high expense of filters or the questionable costs (and litter) caused by bottled water. Plus, using a multi-stage filtration system (like the Aquasana Twin Filter system) effortlessly filters out disease-causing contaminants, toxic groundwater pollutants and chemicals like chlorine and phthalate.
The best part of using a multi-stage filtration system is that while it blocks all the microscopic toxins and contaminants from entering your water, it leaves in the trace nutrients and minerals your body craves, including calcium, magnesium and copper. The end result? You get your water the way nature intended–fresh, clean and pure.

Many homeowners mistakenly assume that their tap water is completely safe to drink and use for cooking. With advances in water treatment technology, there’s no risk of water contamination in your home water supply, right?
Wrong. Even the EPA has tried to step in and warn consumers about the dangers of drinking water, only to be stopped short by the government itself. So keeping your drinking water free of dangerous chemicals and toxic poisons is left up to you– the consumer.
Just What’s Floating in Your Drinking Water Right Now?
Here are just a few of the many chemicals and pollutants in ordinary tap water that water treatment facilities simply don’t have the budgets or manpower to filter out: industrial waste and cleaning chemicals, perchlorate, herbicides and pesticides used in agriculture, chlorine, and lead.
And that’s in addition to all the documented health issues that have been linked to drinking water, including colon and bladder cancer, miscarriages, birth defects and childhood asthma–to name just a few.
Protect Your Water–Easily and Affordably
You can stop these poisons from reaching your drinking water–or even entering your home through the shower, a flushing toilet or a sink–by installing a drinking water filter or a whole-house filtration system.
A drinking water filter goes over your tap and stops toxic chemicals, chlorine and pesticides that leak into the ground water, breaking through and infesting your tap water.
Installing a whole-house filter will prevent chlorine and other chemicals from damaging your skin, burning your eyes, drying out your hair and contributing to breathing problems, which can be especially troublesome for young children. The sooner you take steps to protect yourself and your family from hazardous drinking water, the healthier you will all feel!

Drinking water filters are all about risk reduction. As human beings, we accept a certain amount of risk every day; we simply have little choice. We risk accidents when we get out of bed and walk down the hall. We could slip and fall in the shower or trip on a discarded toy on the way down the stairs. We buckle up to increase our chances of survival in car accidents and wash our hands before we eat. Many of us also avoid secondhand smoke like the plague. Unfortunately, all too many of us overlook a serious potential health danger–our drinking water.
The water you get from your tap is supposed to be safe, and your local water system probably does comply with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards for safe water. The problem is these standards allow for certain levels of toxic chemicals in your drinking water. These levels are generally considered safe, but no one can say for sure whether trace levels of hazardous chemicals and other toxins will harm your health. Some of these are even cancer-causing agents! And what happens when you have multiple toxins coursing through your body? Who is to say how much is too much for your unique physical makeup?
Many people are unwilling to digest pharmaceuticals, lead, chlorine, arsenic and even cysts with every sip they take. They turn to drinking water filters to produce clear, clean, healthy drinking water right from their own taps. These people often understand that they could remain healthy while drinking untouched tap water–just as you may (or may not) remain healthy after inhaling years of secondhand smoke. However, they also understand a critical consideration–less exposure is sure to improve a person’s chances of staying healthy and living longer.
Some people may hesitate to buy a drinking water filter, expecting them to be expensive and difficult to install and use. Fortunately, they are misinformed. Today’s drinking water filters are reasonably priced enough that most households can afford them. Many can be installed in mere minutes–even by those with no plumbing skills, without fancy tools. Even better, many of today’s drinking water filters work as soon as you turn on your faucet; there’s no fuss, no hassle and no extra work involved.

When many people go shopping for a water filtration system, they go hunting for the cheapest model they can find. No one can blame them, especially during tough economic times. However, picking up even a popular brand-name filtration system at a local department or bargain store may not be enough to safeguard your health.
Often, garden-variety water filtration systems do not adequately filter the water flowing from your tap. They may filter too-low percentages of some toxins and let others squeak by completely unimpeded. The result is water that is a little better than what comes out of your tap in the first place but still a potential health detriment. Furthermore, they may not offer that much cost savings over high-performance water filtration systems. Buying a high-quality system with certification documentation to back it up really can make a difference.
Bottled Water or Water Filtration System
Why not just drink bottled water? Many consider this a viable option. However, bottled water isn’t necessarily any healthier or safer than the water running from your tap. The bottled water industry is largely unregulated.
Many people think the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) actively ensures that bottled water is good for the body. The fact is the FDA’s guidelines only require bottled water to be on par with tap water, but not really any better. Furthermore, if your bottled water is sold within the same state in which it is bottled, it doesn’t even have to meet this minimal FDA requirement. So bottled water is certainly not better than filtered drinking water, and it’s often less cost-effective. Filtered water can be had for less than 10 cents per gallon!
Water filtration systems, on the other hand, are required to have water purity documentation. In fact, it is typically against state laws to make water purity claims without the certification to back them up. This means that viewing a water filtration system’s documentation information before you buy affords you a better chance of getting cleaner drinking water than consuming either tap or the average bottled water. For cleaner, safer, more cost-effective water, a quality water filtration system fits the bill.

Consider whole house water filters for water safety and convenience. You may feel like your head is spinning as you consider all your water filter choices. You’ll find a variety of pitchers, bottles and one-sink models from numerous brands. While the best of these brands can deliver much safer water to your cup, you can still do better for your family.
Whole house water filters do exactly what you imagine. They deliver clean, clear, safe drinking water to every part of your home. What’s so great about that? For starters, you should be concerned about more than just the water you drink in your kitchen. A whole house water filter helps to protect your health no matter where you decide to turn on a faucet.
Consider your bathroom sink. You do more than just wash your hands there. When you brush your teeth, you’re not supposed to swallow. However if you’re brushing with tap water, you’re taking whatever contaminants are there and swishing them around in your mouth. Even worse, though you spit out the toothpaste diligently, you’re probably swallowing a tiny bit of this water anyway.
If you have children, there’s even more reason to be concerned. They are notorious for forgetting to spit their toothpaste out. When they do remember, they are rarely as efficient at doing so. Furthermore, they are more likely to grab a drink from the bathroom sink in the middle of the night than most adults.
A whole house water filter is also important for showering. Contaminated water isn’t merely bad for your insides; it can also be hard on your skin and hair. Chlorine can strip your hair, leaving it dull and brittle, and it can also irritate your skin. Besides that, many of the chemicals that find their way into tap water are released into the air as water vapor. You’re not only putting them on your skin, but also breathing them. This can present a problem for your entire family, but it may be worse for those with asthma, allergies and other chronic health conditions.
Whole house water filters can even benefit your family in the laundry room. These filters remove chlorine and other potentially irritating chemicals from the water used to wash your clothing. All around, whole house water filter is an excellent option for removing contaminants, carcinogens and other health hazards from your water.
